It must be time again for the Canterbury Poets’ Collective Poetry in Performance readings!

You can download your own copy of the poster by clicking here. Or just feast your eyes below:

As always, a mixture of well known, not-so-well-known, local and visiting poets:

Sept 30 – Vincent O’Sullivan, Sugu Pillay, Helen Jacobs
Oct 7 – Serie Barford, Bernadette Hall, Rodney Foster
Oct 14 – David Howard reading for the late John O’Connor, Karen Zelas, Tam Vosper
Oct 21 – Cliff Fell, Joanna Preston reading for the late Helen Bascand, James Norcliffe
Oct 28 – Bryan Walpert, Nick Williamson, Helen Yong
Nov 4 – Anna Jackson, Te Awhina Arahanga, Teoti Jardine
Nov 11 – Harvey Molloy, and students of the Hagley Writers Institute
Nov 18 – Fiona Farrell, and the Best of the Open Mic

As you can see, there are two special readings. On October 14th, David Howard will be reading a selection of poems by the late John O’Connor, and the following week will be my turn to read poems by Helen Bascand. I think it’s a lovely gesture that the CPC have made, asking us to read for these two much-missed stalwarts of the Canterbury poetry scene. Both will be quite moving events.

Once again, the venue is the CPIT Imagetech Lecture theatre, and finding it couldn’t be simpler:

  1. Go through the main doors, into the Rakaia Centre. (Big building.)
  2. Turn right, down the corridor. (Lots of glass windows and walls.)
  3. Take three paces, and turn left. (Away from the windows.)
  4. Go through the door. (Open it first.)

So there you have it. Now you know what you’ll be doing on Wednesday nights through October and November!
