Competition in Progress – the final hour

Inspiration
 noun, ˌɪn.spɪˈreɪ.ən
1: a divine influence or action on a person believed to qualify him or her to receive and communicate sacred revelation; the action or power of moving the intellect or emotions; the act of influencing or suggesting opinions;
2: the act of drawing in; specifically : the drawing of air into the lungs
[from the Latin inspiratus, inspirare, “to breathe into”]

We’re just starting the final hour of the competition, so hopefully there are a good number of people either sitting back feeling pleased with themselves, sitting bolt upright in total amazement at what they’ve managed to do in a frankly farcical amount of time, or flicking glances towards the clock while they put the finishing touches to their master-and/or-mistress-pieces. (In which case a word to the wise: fill in the details on the entry form now, so all you have to do at the end is attatch the file and hit Submit.)

Remember you do have quite literally until the last second of this day. Last year, when I did the CV2 Two-Day Poem comp (from which this venture takes its inspiration), the whooshing sound of my entry being sent was followed immediately by the sound of the email announcing that the competition had just closed. (Not so much “down to the wire” as “coterminous with the wire’s extrusion”.)

So. Breathe. Be inspired, one way or another.

See you on the other side, however it turns out.
